It has been a pretty comfortable start to the summer of 2018, for the most part, but be prepared for the first major heatwave of the season starting this weekend.

While some pleasant days lie ahead, in terms of temperature, Wednesday into Friday, Saturday things will begin to turn the corner. Accuweather is reporting that temperatures will be up into the 90's throughout the weekend into most of next week.

"While heat waves are common around Independence Day, this pattern could bring the hottest early July weather for such a broad area of the Northeast since 2012," says AccuWeather Meteorologist Evan Duffey in a recent article.

The City of Pittsfield has issued a high heat advisory from Saturday through Monday -- with the Berkshire Athenaeum serving as a respite from the heat on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Saturday is trending to be in the low 90's. Sunday will be a little bit warmer, with temperatures expected in the 95-98 degree range. Monday will be in the mid 90's as well, with Tuesday and the 4th of July trending into the low 90 degree range.

One of the things you look for when checking the weather, along with temperatures, are the "feels like" temperatures. Accuweather is saying with the increased humidity during the heatwave, it will feel like it is over 100 degrees outside -- also due to the sun being at its strongest point with summer just arriving.

As it looks right now, next Saturday, July 7 will be when a cool down is expected.  Stay cool, and definitely hydrated if you will be outside for long periods of time Berkshire County. If you have a pool, use that bad boy to your advantage.
