A home on the shore of Pontoosuc Lake at 128 Ridge Ave was severly damaged by a fire Thursday afternoon.

No one was injured in the fire, which was reported around noon at the home

Smoke was seen pouring from the second story and attic of the home moments later.
Firefighters had ladders extended against two sides of the home, which was just feet from the shore. No one was home at the time of the fire.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that.
John Casey, who owns the home with his wife, Wendy, said they had left the house only 15 minutes before the fire was spotted.

"I got a phone call," he said. "I was across the lake — one of my neighbors happened to see it."

They've lived in the home for 18 years, he said.

Casey said while standing outside with a group of neighbors and family members.

"I've already called the insurance company,"  "Deal with the adjusters, and take it from there. It's not pleasant, but worse things could happen. Nobody was hurt."

According to Pittsfield Fire Chief Robert Czerwinski, The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it was possibly electrical, and the fire may have started on the home's second floor.

The home sustained heavy damage to the second floor bedroom and attic areas, along with smoke and water damage, he said.
