The man who played the lead role in one of the all-time classic high school comedy films is making his way to the Berkshires this summer.

Of course, Matthew Broderick is much more than the character he portrayed in the 1986 iconic film. Broderick, a Tony award winner, along with Golden Globe and Academy Award nominee, will be starring in "The Closet", which will make its world premiere at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, event officials announced on their website.

"Martin O’Reilly (Broderick) is stuck in Scranton in a dead-end job, his marriage is over, and his son won’t return his calls," describes the Williamstown Theatre Festival. "His only friend is his eternally optimistic co-worker, who can’t bake enough muffins to stave off her romantic longings.  When a stranger sashays into their world, he drags Martin — and everyone around him — out of their respective closets."

Tony nominees Jessica Hecht and Brooks Ashmankas will join Broderick on stage for the show, which is written by Douglas Carter Beane and directed by Mark Brokaw. "The Closet" will run from June 26 to July 14 on the main stage.

Also announced to appear is Mary-Louise Parker, whom you may remember from the TV show "Weeds." Parker will star in "The Sound Inside", which will appear on the Nikos Stage from June 27 to July 8.

Tickets will go on sale for the festival on April 3.
