A  60-year-old man missing for a week has been found dead by police divers searching the Housatonic River where his vehicle was found submerged. Masslive.com reports that German Perez, of Sheffield, was reported missing on Sept. 25th. He had been in Lakeville, Connecticut and was driving back to his home but never arrived.

The Massachusetts State Police forwarded the concerns to the Connecticut State Police. Police initially found a damaged guardrail and other evidence that a car had gone off the road on Route 44 in North Canaan, near the Housatonic River. The next day, divers found a Toyota Tundra submerged in the river but no one was inside. The Connecticut State Police Dive team searched the river for several days and found the body of Perez yesterday about a mile south of where his truck crashed.

An autopsy will be performed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Farmington.
