Two accidents that caused injuries occurred within about an hour of each other late yesterday afternoon in North Adams.

IBerkshires.com reports shortly that shortly after 4 pm a driver heading west on River Street in a Hyundai sedan collided with an eastbound Toyota sport-utility from vehicle New York. The preliminary reports said that the driver was trying to turn off the car's hazard lights and took her eyes off the road, leading to the collision.

One person was taken by Northern Berkshire EMS to the satellite emergency facility in North Adams. Meanwhile, at the same time that while first responders were dealing with that scene, a pedestrian was struck by a car at the intersection of Holden and Center streets at about 4:40 pm.

An earlier accident occurred in Adams when an extend-cab pickup truck, crashed into and broke a utility pole on Columbia Street.
