Northern Berkshire County and North Adams have a number of different museums, from The Clark Art Institute, Williams College Museum of Art, The Susan B. Anthony Birthplace Museum, The Berkshire Art Museum, Mass MoCa Art, North Adams Museum of History & Science and now there will be a Museum of Dog.  That’s right a museum dedicated to our four legged fury friends.

According to iBerkshires.com, David York hopes to have the Museum of Dog open by the end of next month.  The first step was to find the location for the museum, which he did last September when he bought the 8,000 square-foot former Quinn's Paint & Wallpaper Co property.  The next step was getting approval from the North Adams planning board for a special permit, which was granted Tuesday.

York’s largely private collection of 180 dog-inspired artworks will also include featured local artists in temporary exhibits according to iBerkshires.com.

York has been involved with dogs before, he opened Atlanta's first doggy day-care facility and a couple facilities in Texas. He also had been active with animal rescues in the Atlanta area.
