Pittsfield Man Placed on Bail, Curfew for Alleged Part in October Shooting

A 20-year-old Pittsfield man was arraigned in Berkshire District Court Wednesday afternoon on several charges stemming from a shooting last October.

According to the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office, Josaiah Bynum had not guilty pleas entered on his behalf for two counts of armed assault with intent to murder, and one count each of illegal possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.

The charges stem from an incident that took place last October in Pittsfield, which resulted in the death of 22-year-old Asiyanna Jones. It has been reported that Bynum was in the vehicle with Jones when she was killed. There have been two other arrests made in the case thus far.

Bynum allegedly attempted to "harm a 38-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman" on the night in question, according to the DA's office.

Judge Daniel Ford released Bynum on $5,000 bail on the condition he not possess any dangerous weapons and abide by an 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. curfew.

The DA's office has stated that the events that led up the the shooting remain unclear and say the investigation is active and ongoing.
