Pittsfield Public Schools director of curriculum and instruction Judy Rush made it to the final two of the search for the Hampshire Regional School District's next superintendent. The search has officially come to an end.

According to the Daily Hampshire Gazette, Rush was hired on Friday following an interview process which was open to the public. She was given the job after a unanimous vote.

“We’re excited there is someone with such knowledge but also a collaborative style,” said Jan Gibeau, chairwoman of the joint Chesterfield and Goshen School Committee of Rush. “These days, that’s especially important because we’re all subject to an environment that is divisive.”

According to the report, once a contract with Rush is finalized, she will take over on July 1 -- which is the beginning of the school district's fiscal year. Rush has left quite the mark on the Pittsfield Public Schools district. In fact, once we posted the story of Rush being a finalist, she was showered with praise by the community, even being called "a rock star" in the district.

Hampshire Regional School District includes Chesterfield, Goshen, Southampton, Westhampton, Williamsburg, and Worthington.
