A lot of folks in the Berkshires got the White Christmas they were wishing for.  According to the National Weather Service Berkshire county got anywhere from 11 inches in Pittsfield and Florida to 8 inches in Lanesborough, lesser amounts fell in southern Berkshire county.

It looks like the white stuff will stick around for awhile as bitter cold air invades the Berkshires’ this week. The National Weather Service and AccuWeather are in agreement the temperatures will be well below normal through New Years.  Today’s high around 20 will feel great compared to the High’s forecast later this week when we struggle with single digit highs.  As for nighttime lows, you may not want to know.  We will at or below freezing at least 3 or 4 days this week and with the wind chill factor it may feel like 20 below.

Some extreme cold tips from the National Weather Service.  Wear layers of loose-fitting, lightweight, warm clothing, wear a hat and try to stay dry and out of the wind.  For more information and tips for these cold winter months visit http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/winter/index.shtml
