The City of Pittsfield has been awarded a grant of nearly $400,000 to address youth violence in the city.

These grants are the first in a five-year, $20 million capital grant program that is expected to deploy 9,000 body-worn cameras across Massachusetts’ cities and towns.

Thanks to the Baker-Polito Administration and the Bay State, numerous communities across Massachusetts received IT grants on Tuesday.

Two Berkshire County projects have been awarded a share of the money. The local projects are in the city of Pittsfield and the town of Great Barrington.

MassDevelopment Site Readiness Grant to begin Phase One of the redevelopment of Site 9, the largest and most visible parcel, in the William Stanley Business Park. Pittsfield, one of 10 municipalities across the state to be selected for this competitive grant, received the largest award.
