According to Pittsfield police, two people were arrested Friday in connection with an armed robbery at Angelina's Sub Shop on West Housatonic Street in Pittsfield.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that 35-year-old Jameial Beckett and 37-year-old Ivelisse Ruusukallio were both arrested on a charge of armed robbery while masked.

According to police, both were being held on bail until their arraignment at Central Berkshire District Court today. An employee at the sub shop called police shortly after 9:30pm on Friday to report he had been robbed by a black man who brandished a gun and was wearing a dark colored hoodie and mask.

According to police, 30 minutes earlier officers had responded to the Big Y Express at 202 West Street for a report that an individual, wearing a mask, had briefly entered the store and then left after appearing to be "spooked” by arriving customers.

The Pittsfield Police Detective Bureau is investigating whether Beckett and Ruusukallio are connected to a string of other robberies that have taken place at other businesses in recent weeks.
