MLB isn’t fielding players but the Pittsfield Girls Babe Ruth League certainly is. Registration for the Pittsfield Girls Softball League is open now through March 31st. The leagues are open for girls 6 to 18 years of age that live from Pittsfield and all the way south to the Mass/CT border. The fee is $50 for the Tee Ball and Coaches Pitch leagues and $85 for the Rookie, Minor, and Major leagues according to the Babe Ruth signup page.

GIRLS FROM PITTSFIELD SOUTH TO THE MASS/CT BORDER CAN PLAY

There’s plenty of baseball and softball to fill the void of the pros. From tee-ball to the senior baseball leagues throughout the Berkshires, you have great opportunities to play or watch games on or at your local field. Void of crazy prices for tickets, parking, and $15 boiled hotdogs.

If you don’t play or don’t have a kid, relative, next-door neighbor playing in one of the area’s many leagues, take in some games anyway. When you pass a field this spring, park your car, get some fresh air and watch that youngster's face light up when they get their first hit or the old-timer in a senior league reliving his youth making a great running catch. The game of baseball is America’s game whether it's played at Fenway or in the smallest town in the Berkshires.

The two sides have had an entire off-season to negotiate a bargaining agreement and capitalize on the momentum of an exciting 2021 season. It seems no one can agree on anything these days causing the cancelation of the first two series scheduled to start the season.
