If you haven't heard there was a massive fire at an apartment complex on the corner of Houghton and Brooklyn street in North Adams around 1 P.M. on Tuesday, displacing five families, some with children.

The Community is rallying around these families who have lost everything in the fire.  Pete Oleskiewics, owner of Desperados on Eagle Street, did a pop-up fundraiser at his restaurant Tuesday night and raised $500 for the families which he will personally give to the families.

Pete wrote me on facebook saying,

These people truly have nothing. I don't have room to accept clothing or hard goods, but hopefully, we can get a boatload more cash tonight. Hopefully, people come in with cash and Walmart gift cards.

Desperados will be opening up at 4 P.M.Today Wednesday 1/8. If you would like to help out these families stop on by and donate cash or Walmart gift cards. All monetary donations and gift cards will go directly to the families.

Thanks to Dan Marko for sharing the photos and video from the fire.
