Here's something to make your life a little less pukey. If you have ever had food poisoning it can be so horrible you just want to crawl into a ball and die, and yes I have been there. It had to do with some whole belly clams not cooked right.

The CDC recently looked at more than five years of stats on food poisoning and how many outbreaks there have been.  And they put out a definitive list of the foods that are most likely to get you sick.

Dr. John Painter, an epidemiologist with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, discusses his study about which foods can make us sick.

And the food that causes the most cases of food poisoning is chicken partly because we eat so much of it.  So you're more likely to encounter an old batch, or chicken that's been undercooked.

Here are the five foods that are most likely to make you ill.

Chicken.  3,114 cases of food poisoning reported the most cases of food poisoning is chicken partly because we eat so much of it.  So you're more likely to encounter an old batch or chicken that's been undercooked.

Pork.  2,670.

Seeded vegetables like peppers and cucumbers.  2,572 illnesses.

Eggs.  2,470.

Fruit.  2,420 illnesses reported.

The rest of the top ten are leafy vegetables, yes veggies also on the list beef, turkey . . . dairy and fish.

If you ever do get food poisoning,  which most cases of food poisoning are mild and clear up in a few days. During that time, the goal is to prevent dehydration. Dehydration is the loss of fluids and electrolytes (nutrients and minerals) your body needs. You should avoid solid foods and dairy products until the vomiting and diarrhea have passed.
