The popular 4th of July parade in downtown Pittsfield will occur this Saturday beginning at 10 am.

I have been a participant in the Pittsfield Parade with our local Townsquare Media radio stations since 2005, and I haven't missed one. There's nothing like driving through the center of the city and seeing thousands upon thousands of spectators all gathered throughout the streets and sidewalks to get a glimpse of all the attractions the parade has to offer.

With all of the differing opinions of the political climate and crimes that occur not just in the Berkshires but throughout the country, there's something special about seeing everyone put their differences aside and come together to celebrate the parade. That's what I enjoy most about the Pittsfield 4th of July Parade...our unification as a community.

While Berkshire County is receiving a hot spell this week along with some pop-up showers and thunderstorms, you may be wondering what the weather will look like this Saturday during the Pittsfield Parade.

The National Weather Service is calling for a chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, but the good news, according to the service, is that if dicey weather occurs on July 4, it won't be until after 2 pm after the parade is long over. Let's hope the forecast stays that way. To learn everything you want to know about the Pittsfield Parade, go here, and we'll see you in downtown Pittsfield this Saturday.
