Loud Booms Will Be Heard In North Adams

The North Adams Police Department wants residents of North Adams to expect some very loud “booms”. Beginning Tuesday November 13th through Saturday November 17th from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.

National Grid on Brown Street will be using a sound emitting propane cannon, which can be quite loud , to disperse a persistent and hazardous flock of crows that are roosting on their property. Prior attempts to disperse the flock have been unsuccessful. The sonic waves that have been produced have proven to be successful at other locations, including airports to keep the birds away from airplanes taking off and landing.

The sonic cannon will be aimed at the flock daily. No projectiles will be fired from it. There may be multiple attempts with the cannon between 4 and 6 pm daily.
