The "Live On The Lake" concert series will kick off on Wednesday, July 5 on the shores of beautiful Onota Lake in Pittsfield.

Live 95.9 radio and Greylock Federal Credit Union for the last 21 years have been putting on this free concert series every Wednesday evening in July and August.

The local and popular band Hotshot Hillbillies will be kicking off the season on July 5.

Concert goers have the choice of pulling ashore on their boats on sitting on the field. There is an area for swimmers as well.

Although by 6 p.m. when the concert starts, lifeguards in previous years would have been off duty, the City of Pittsfield has released the following statement about swimming this year at Onota Lake.

No Lifeguards On Duty At Onota Lake This Year

Please be advised that lifeguards will not be present to monitor the water and related activities like swimming at Burbank Park (Onota Lake) this summer.

COVID-19 had a tremendous impact on the workforce in our community and across the world. Lifeguarding is no exception. The city began a search for qualified lifeguards in March of 2023.

After several months of unsuccessful attempts to fill the lifeguard positions, the city is unable to provide lifeguarding for the 2023 season. If you choose to swim and/or partake in any water-related activities, you will be doing so at your own risk.

Signage will be available in various area located throughout Burbank Park notifying the public of this message. We will continue to keep the job posting for lifeguards open and encourage qualified candidates with the proper certifications to apply.
