The Miami Dolphins announced this morning that former Miami head coach Don Shula passed away at at the age of 90.

Shula has more regular season wins that any other coach in the NFL.  Shula’s regular season win total is still at the top of the heap with 328 wins.  Chicago’s great head coach George Halas has 324 wins to his credit.  Pats Coach Bill Belichick is still chasing Shula’s record.  Bill has 273 regular season wins…45 wins behind former Bear coach George Halas and 55 wins behind Shula.

This Patriots fans respect for Don Shula has waned over the years following the consistent jabs Coach Shula would take at the Patriots over the years.

Jabs surrounding the Patriots undefended season run in 2007 when the Pats lost the last regular season game to miss out on the undefeated regular season record held by Shula and the Dolphins.  In 1972 the Dolphins went 14-0 and went on to win the Super Bowl.  The Pats 2007 season they went 18-1 and lost to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII 17-14.

Shula was also very vocal about the Patriots during Spygate and Deflategate.Images

Whatever my personal feelings about Coach Shula, you’ve got to give him a tip of the cap for his sideline accomplishments.
