Roadwork Begins Tomorrow In Pittsfield…Parking Prohibited

One of the first questions locals ask Pittsfield Mayor Linda Tyer over and over is “when is Pittsfield going to fix the potholes.” Every New England municipality faces the same issue. The drastic temperature changes over four seasons, the use of salt, sand, and city plows during the winter causes havoc on our roadways.

Parking is prohibited on some Pittsfield streets this week

Pittsfield is among many Berkshire cities and towns that are at the beginning stage of their road paving projects. Road crews will be out in force starting tomorrow raising structures, installing berms, and paving a section of streets in Pittsfield.

Work will be done this week on Monroe Street, Chestnut Street and Terrace Ave, and Martin Street. Tomorrow’s focus will be raising structures on Monroe, Chestnut, and Terrance with berm installation on Terrace and Martin Street according to a release by the City of Pittsfield. The city is asking for area residents' patience during the scheduled road work dates and times. In those areas listed on-site parking is prohibited between 6 am and 6 pm. Weather conditions may change the work schedules and timelines for competition.

On Wednesday the crews are scheduled to raise structures on Martin Street and Woodbine Ave while berm installation continues on Woodbine, Monroe, and on Chestnut streets according to the Pittsfield City Hall release.

Thursday paving is scheduled for Monroe, Chestnut, and Terrace Ave. Paving will continue Friday weather permitting on Martin Street and Woodbine Ave. A reminder once again that parking is prohibited from 6 am – 6 pm on the roads scheduled for improvement.
