Date: August 17, 2020

In recent days, the Town of Adams has experienced an increase in stolen vehicles and thefts of items from inside parked cars. These incidents are occurring in the late evening and early morning hours. We are asking residents to be vigilant and immediately report suspicious activity to the Adams Police Department.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, these simple tips can help reduce the chance of you becoming a victim:

  • Take your vehicle's key; do not leave it in or on your vehicle.
    • Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.
    • Park in well-lit areas, if possible.
    • Never leave valuables in your vehicle, especially if they can be seen from outside the vehicle.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Adams Police Department as 413-743-1212.

Security may be easier and less expensive than you think.  An inexpensive security camera on the market is by WYZE and costs under $20.  You can purchase a camera that connects to your internet and can be set to automatically record any motion it detects.  Those files can be reviewed and saved from an APP downloaded to your phone.  You can plug the camera into an outlet in your house, point the camera out the window and have video evidence of anyone that approaches your driveway.  You can watch what is happening in real-time or go back several days and view the files.  You can set up a number of cameras viewable on the same APP.  It also makes for a great pet cam for those times you are not home.

There are a number of other companies with cameras on the market that can handle any and all of your security needs.
