Adams Man Arrested In Two Break-Ins Has Been Named
An Adams man is being held without bail after police arrested him in connection with two burglaries of businesses late Sunday night on Columbia Street.
The Berkshire Eagle reports that 31-year-old Christopher Jelley was found walking down the street carrying a television after police allegedly identified him, using surveillance footage, as a man that used a cement block to break through the glass doors of Racing Mart and Val’s Pipe & Package Store and emptying both cash registers of $90 each.
The break-in occurred around 2:15 AM on Monday. Jelley pleaded not guilty Monday on charges of malicious destruction of property exceeding $1,200, breaking and entering a building at night to commit a felony, and larceny from a building, all for the incident at Val’s. Further charges are pending.
