A longtime fixture of the North Adams business community is closing its doors. IBerkshires.com reports that Persnickety Toys, which has operated for 19 years at its 13 Eagle Street location, will close within four to six weeks.

The news comes from owner Monique Suters this week. She made her official announcement on Oct. 25th in a video on the shop's Facebook page.

Suters said her decision to close came after struggling to stay afloat with online competition as well as a smaller market since the closure of North Adams Regional Hospital in 2014 and the recent death of her son in August.
