Another Pittsfield City Councilor Announces They’re Not Running for Re-Election
Pittsfield Ward 1 City Councilor Helen Moon announced that she will not be seeking re-election for a 3rd term. Moon made the announcement on Twitter stating “Thanks all for the experience of being Pittsfield Ward 1’s City Councilor. It’s been a blessing and we have accomplished a lot during our time together.
Moon’s announcement is a trend by Pittsfield councilors. She is the 4th current member of the council that has announced they will not be running again next November. Joining the growing list of Councilors calling it quits after their current term expires included, Kevin Morandi, Chris Connell, Nicholas Caccamo and now Helen Moon.
City Council is a two-year term in office. If you are interested in running for one of the vacated seats, or any elected city position, you can pick up nomination papers at the city clerk’s office. The last day to submit your paperwork is Friday July 16th.
In addition to the open City Council seats, there will be six School Committee positions and a city clerk position voted on in the next election...all two-year terms.
