A local animal hospital in the Berkshires has received national recognition.

The American Animal Hospital Association has recognized Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital, located on W. Housatonic Street, as AAHA accredited. That means that the hospital is rated as one of the top 15% of animal hospitals in the US and Canada.

According to the AAHA, to be eligible for accreditation, hospitals must be evaluated on approximately 900 standards that assess safety protocols, equipment, veterinary knowledge, and other key areas of pet health care. Accredited hospitals are home to leading pet health care providers.

This is an incredible accomplishment for one of our local animal hospitals; one that is a big part of the annual "Cause For Paws" radiothon in support of the Berkshire Humane Society.

"Our veterinarians and staff are dedicated to delivering excellent care for your pet. Because pets are our passion. And keeping them healthy is our #1 priority. AAHA helps us stay prepared and equipped to provide the level of care that your pet deserves," said the Pittsfield Veterinary Hospital in a statement.

"Thank you for trusting us with your pet’s health. We look forward to seeing you soon."
