Here's the Official Press Release From the Berkshire United Way:

The winner of the 20th annual Driving Our Community Forward Johnson Ford/Greylock Federal Credit Union vehicle giveaway was announced in June by a small (yet distanced) gathering of officials from Berkshire United Way (BUW), The Johnson Dealerships and Greylock Federal Credit Union.

The event is usually a community celebration open to the public but transitioned to Facebook Live event due to the pandemic. The lucky winner of the three-year lease of a 2020 Ford Ranger is Nathan Butterfield. In addition, Greylock generously donated 12 gift cards to local businesses that were given away to participants of the live broadcast.

“This year’s event was different, but with a little creativity, we were able to celebrate the end of our campaign season, thank all of our generous donors and select the truck winner in front of about 75 virtual participants,” said Candace Winkler, president and CEO of Berkshire United Way. “We were also able to publicly thank Gary Johnson and John Bissell for 20 years of underwriting the truck give away initiative.”

This year’s winner contributed to the Berkshire United Way through General Dynamics Workplace Campaign. “I was surprised to find out I had won and honestly it couldn’t have come at a better time. I am thankful to Johnson Ford, Greylock Federal Credit Union and Berkshire United Way for the opportunity to drive away in a new Ford Ranger,” said Butterfield. “I’m proud to know that my contribution will be used to do great work in this community.”

The 20-year program was designed to increase participation in Berkshire United Way’s Annual Campaign. “It has been a pleasure to be a co-sponsor with Greylock to offer a vehicle as an incentive to pledge to Berkshire United Way’s campaign,” said Gary Johnson, owner of Johnson Dealerships.

“Greylock was proud to again underwrite this event,” said President and Chief Executive Officer John L. Bissell. “Berkshire United Way is more important than ever and Greylock and its employees are grateful to be able to play a leadership role in supporting their efforts in our hometowns.”

The recorded event is available for viewing on BUW’s Facebook page.
