Now that the long holiday weekend is over, repair work on bridges and guardrails will resume on the Mass Pike starting Tuesday night. Oh, joy. It always seems like these construction projects last forever, don't they?

WWLP/22 News Springfield reports that bridge and guardrail repairs will take place both eastbound and westbound on I-90 this week, affecting the towns of Lee, Becket, and Otis. You know the drill. If your travels bring you anywhere near the Pike, prepare yourself and get off to an earlier start so you can still make it to your destination on time(or reasonably close).

The repair work is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, June 1 in some locations and will conclude this Friday, June 4, according to the Massachusetts Department of Transportation(MassDOT).

For the towns of Becket and Otis on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, repair work will begin at 7 p.m. each night and conclude at 5 a.m. the next morning for the portion of I-90 from mile marker 19 to mile marker 22. Again, that's for eastbound and westbound lanes. Also, during those work hours, the low-speed travel lane will be closed.

Things will be a little different for the town of Lee, where the repair work will be performed during the daytime on Thursday, June 3. Between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., there will be intermittent lane closures westbound at mile marker 10. However, travel will be allowed thru the work zone during that time.

Hey, wanna hear a construction joke? Sorry, I'm still working on it. All kidding aside though, this repair work needs to be done to our roads and bridges safer. For more, visit WWLP's website here or check out MassDOT's website.
