BRUINS WIN SERIES…AWAIT WINNER OF PENGUINS & ISLANDERS SERIES
The Bruins beat the Washington Capitals last night 3-1 and sent the Caps on vacation as the B’s won the first round of the playoffs 4 games to 1. The Bruins now practice and wait for their next playoff opponent that will be the winner of the Penguin/Islander series. Currently that series is tied at 2-2 so at least two more games and maybe more before the Bruins next opponent is set.
The Bruins won 4 straight against the Capitals after dropping the first game of the series. All the games were competitive with two of the five games going into overtime, with one of those overtime wins for the Bruins coming in the 2nd overtime period. Last night Tuukka Rask was outstanding in net keeping all but one of the 41 Capital shots out of the net. Patrice Bergeron was the offensive star for the B’s putting the biscuit in the basket twice for the good guys.
The Bruins will have home-ice advantage if the Islanders beat the Pens in that series. If the Islanders do upset Pittsburg, games 1-2-5 and 7 will be played at the TD Garden. Since Pittsburg had the better record than the Bruins in the regular season, the Penguins would have the home-ice advantage over the Bruins if they can rack up two more wins against the Islanders.
Season Ticket Holders, Game Plan Holders and Boston Garden Society Members will have first dibs on playoff tix for the next series. No date has yet been announced for tickets for the average Joe Bruins fan in search of single game tickets. Tickets through ticket agencies (legal scalpers) are averaging $300 a piece for nose bleed seats.
Once announced, upcoming Bruins playoff games can be heard on WNAW 94.7 in North Adams and WBEC-AM 1420 in Pittsfield when there is not a Red Sox schedule conflict.
