Barrington Stage Company (BSC) is teaming up with local Pittsfield author, Ty Allan Jackson, to read out loud his new book, Supadupa Kid 2, a virtual community read.

The project will feature local community members and will be available to stream online FREE at the end of October.

Barrington Stage has commissioned a musical version of Supadupa Kid for the BSC’s Youth Theatre. In Supadupa Kid 2, our favorite teen superhero, the Supadupa Kid, faces his biggest challenge: the villainous Dark Matter!

With the power to control gravity and invisibility, she is a formidable foe. Along with best friend/genius Ronald and new superheroine partner Maya/Muévete, SDK attempts to take down his most wicked nemesis yet.

BSC is currently seeking local actors to fill roles. All must be excellent readers. Rehearsal time will be two weeks in October (TBD) via zoom afterschool and/or weekends. All actors will receive a stipend.

Available Roles:

Ronald: (Best friend and side-kick) Genius, dorky, aloof, silly. (African American age 12-14)

Maya Gonzalez / Muevete: Witty, tough, smart, brave. (Latina age 12-14)

Tracy Thomas / Dark Matter: Mean, evil, bully, selfish, manipulative, controlling, leader. (African American age (12-14)

Tanya Thomas: Mean, evil, unintelligent, follower. (African American age 12-14)

Tammy Thomas: Mean, evil, follower. (African American age 12-14)

Maria Gonzalez: (Maya’s little sister): Sweet, kind, loving (Latina age 9-11)

Mama Gonzalez: (Maya’s mother): Motherly, sweet, loving. (Adult Latina)

Ms. Burnett (Social Studies Teacher),Young, fun (Adult Latina or African American)

Narrator (Adult Latina). She helps tell Maya’s story. Must be a very expressive reader.
