Cheshire Police Awarded Grant for Communication Upgrade
Cheshire Police Department was awarded a $34,000 grant to upgrade their communication system. According to a Facebook post to the Cheshire Police Department page, the department was only one of two awards in Berkshire County.
The grant money will be used for new portable, mobile and base radios. It was awarded through the Edward Bryne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant and was announced by Mass Governor Charlie Baker.
The Cheshire Police Department gave a tip of the police cap to Officer Amalio Jusino for penning the grant for the department. The upgrade will enhance communications throughout the department and is expected to increase officer safety.
Our thanks to our own Officer AJ ( Amalio Jusino ) for writing this grant for the Police Department. We were one of only two awards granted in Berkshire County and will be purchasing much needed communications equipment to replace our aging equipment.
