Crews still working hard to restore power to Western Mass
As of 4:55 this afternoon close to 20,000 Eversource customers are still without power in western Mass. Tropical Storm Isaias caused havoc locally with strong winds that ripped trees right out of the ground causing downed power lines and damage to homes across the region.
The storm moved through the Berkshires quickly and delivered strong winds but fortunately did not deliver the large amount of rainfall that at one time was expected. Flash Flood warnings were posted on Monday by the National Weather Service.
The Berkshire towns took a hit but western Mass town in and around Springfield seem to be hit the hardest. Crews will continue to work around the clock to restore power. This is very dangerous work and when it comes to storms in New England its not a easy task.
