In the U.S. there is always a debate about what style of pizza is the best. Chicago is known for its deep-dish pizza. In NY the thinner the crust the better. New Jersey, Connecticut, and Philadelphia style pizza puts the sauce on top of the cheese. St. Louis is famous for thin crust and rectangular slices, often referred to as Midwestern pizza. In Detroit it is commonplace for pizza to be cut into squares and have a thick deep-dish crust with the sauce on top of the cheese. Other types of za that originated in specific pizzerias includes the white clam pizza that originated by Frank Pepe’s Pizzeria in New Haven, and the BBQ pizza that was first made at Coletta’s in Memphis according to Wikipedia.
