Friendly’s has closed six more restaurants.

Recently closed locations include a couple close by in Bennington, Vt. and East Greenbush, N.Y.  Other locations were in Seekonk; Springfield (Sumner Avenue); Rutland, Vt. And Dover, N.H.

In the past few years the Berkshires has lost Friendly's in North Adams and on The Pittsfield/Lenox town line.

According to MassLive.com, The shutdown of the Sumner Avenue location in Springfield left Friendly's with just one location in the city of its birth. That one location, 1811 Boston Road, is adjacent to the ice cream plant and headquarters across the town line in Wilbraham.

Friendly's went through federal bankruptcy protection in 2012, at that time it had 254 restaurants.

Today, it's down to 224 locations in total, about 125 of them franchises and the rest corporately owned. Friendly's restaurants also closed locations this year in Bourne, Gloucester, Ludlow, South Hadley and Westfield.
