Local pet owners have just a couple of days to say goodbye to Bark N' Cat, the locally-owned and operated pet supply store on Holden Street in North Adams. As reported in Sunday's Berkshire Eagle, owner Christa Able is closing up shop to move on to a new personal life chapter.

In a Facebook post, Able has announced that the store will officially close at 2 P.M. this Friday, March 22. Remaining inventory and store fixtures are for sale until then. Bark N' Groom, a grooming service inside Bark N' Cat, will be moving to Adams.

Bark N' Cat was started in 2007 within Persnickety Toys on Eagle St. before moving to Holden St. four years later. Besides providing pet supplies, the business was very active in the community, including being a large part of the City's annual Fall Foliage Festival Dog Parade, which was actually held inside the store one year during inclement weather, and the Humane Race each spring which benefits the Berkshire Humane Society. She will remain a BHS board member and reminds dog owners that this year's race is still on for April 27, once again in North Adams.

Christa was a regular guest on our Community Insight show to talk about those events and we'll miss her, as will the puppies and kitties and their people served by her store. As for her next chapter, she'll be working at Berkshire Medical Center's Advocacy for Access.
