A date has been set for the Northern Berkshire Waste Management District’s Household Hazardous Waste collection according to an article posted in The Berkshire Eagle.

If you live in Adams, Cheshire, Clarksburg, Florida, Hancock, Hinsdale, Lanesborough, Monroe, New Ashford, Peru, Savoy, Williamstown and Windsor you are eligible to bring you household hazardous waste to the Department of Public Works garage on Saturday, April 24th from 9 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon.  The DPW garage is located at 92 North Summer Street in Adams.

Pre-registration is required.  You can email LCernik@nbswmd.com or call 413-743-8208.  Your name, address and phone number is required as part of the registration process.  Items to be disposed of must be stored in the trunk of the car, rear cargo area, truck bed, etc.  Members of Clean Harbors staff will off-load the material.

Materials that can be disposed of during the household hazardous waste collection day include; pesticides, herbicides, insect sprays, rodent killers, muriatic acid, used motor oil, chemical fertilizers, swimming pool chemicals, stains, paint thinners, oil-based paint, antifreeze, old gas, kerosene, brake fluid, roofing tar, carpet cleaner, metal polish, engine degreaser, carburetor cleaner, toilet cleaner, and a host of other items that are listed here.

Some items not allowed for disposal includes; latex paint, pharmaceuticals, medical waste, fireworks, flares, propane tanks, light bulbs and batteries.

There is a 25-gallon limit per household for this event.
