North Adams Was Named One Of The Most ‘Budget-Friendly’ Cities In Massachusetts
Many folks in the Berkshires say there's nothing to do around here. But in reality, there's plenty to do if you get out and look around. Especially when it comes to finding activities that don't break the bank.
North Adams, for example, is full of many budget-friendly activities that many take for granted every day. I know I'm guilty of it sometimes. Familydestinationguide.com states that you can spend a full day in the city without opening your wallet. Let's explore some examples of how that is.
Museum & Art
They named MASS MoCA "the crown jewel," one of the largest contemporary art museums in the country, without spending a dime, due to the fact that they don't charge admission fees on the first Wednesday of each month.
They compare to museums in Boston, where even on days when they charge admission, admission's cheaper than at most museums in the state. The outdoor spaces, on the other hand, are accessible year-round and don’t require admission.

Exploring Downtown
They then went on to talk about how taking a stroll through downtown North Adams is a free activity in itself. The historic architecture tells the story of a city that’s reinvented itself multiple times, with beautiful brick buildings lining Main Street that have character that modern construction can’t replicate.
Mount Greylock was mentioned as well, but I consider it more of an Adams location, even though access to the mountain is from North Adams. But I suppose hiking doesn't matter either, considering it is free if you're up for a whole day of walking. Oh, if you're up for free live music, did I mention Party In The Park?
