Lanesborough Cop Fired For Allegedly Stalking, Harassing Women
A Lanesborough police officer has been fired after his chief determined the officer violated state law by looking up women on a criminal justice database without valid justification.
The Berkshire Eagle is reporting Brennan Polidoro, 30, was let go from the Lanesborough Police Department in the spring following a probe into his inappropriate use of resources.
An investigation found that Polidoro improperly surveilled women he had dated or wanted to date, as well as current romantic partners, while employed as a Lanesborough police officer.
The probe into Polidoro's use of the database came after former Lanesborough Police Chief Timothy Sorrell became aware of the potential misconduct and conducted an investigation. The investigation produced a 58-page report covering actions by Polidoro from July 7, 2020, to Feb. 20, 2021.
Sorrell had this to say about the situation:
Once we found out there was an issue, we dealt with it. If he's a dirty cop, he's going down. It's all about the public trust. I did the best for my agency and recommended to the Select Board that he be terminated—and he was terminated.
Polidoro was fired in the spring, but Sorrell said it’s possible the full extent of Polidoro’s crimes remains unknown. According to Polidor's attorney, Terence Coles, his client has appealed his firing.
