Local Summer Concert Preview – The Eagles…James Taylor…
With our lives finding "normal" again and the return of live music, each week we're going to highlight a couple of shows Whoopee concert-goers might be interested in dishing out your hard-earned cash to go see.
The Eagles tour busses will be pulling into Boston for two shows this summer. The Eagles announced two tour dates at the T.D. Garden. The Eagles “Hotel California 2021 Tour” will land in Boston on Friday August 27 and Saturday August 28th.
Each night the Eagles concert will feature a “Hotel California" set accompanied by an orchestra and choir followed by an additional set of the band’s greatest hits. The show will start at 8pm and there will be a brief intermission.
Tickets for the T.D. Garden shows go on sale this Friday, June 18th at 10am through Ticketmaster. American Express Card Members can purchase tickets before the general public next Monday, June 14th through the 17th between 10am and 10pm. No information on the cost of each ticket was released, but you know they will not be cheap.
Don Henley, Joe Walsh, Timothy Schmit, Deacon Frey and Vince Gill will be the band representing the Eagles on tour. Deacon Frey is the son of Glenn Frey who passed away in 2016. Deacon starting playing with the Eagles in 2017 at the age of 24. Joe Walsh was not an original member of the Eagles but joined the band in 1975. Hotel California was the first album he recorded a year later after joining the band. Vince Gill, who has enjoyed a success in country music, also joined the Eagles in 2017 as a co-lead guitar, rhythm guitar and background vocals for the Hotel California Tour.
While James Taylor concerts at Tanglewood have been postponed and rescheduled for the 3rd time, JT is performing a short drive from the Berkshires this summer at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center in Saratoga Springs on Tuesday August 24th. Tanglewood originally had James scheduled to perform his annual 4th of July concert this summer. That show was moved to August 31 and then postponed again and rescheduled to July 4th of 2022. If it makes you feel better about JT coming back to Tanglewood, the July 4, 2022 date is the only 2022 show listed on the James Taylor website.
Correcting an earlier report on this post…Jackson Browne will open for JT on the first leg of his tour, including the SPAC date. Jackson Browne’s website has 25 concerts dates listed with James Taylor through the fall. Although Jackson’s site, nor the SPAC site has Browne listed on the 24th, James Taylor’s camp told WUPE that Jackson Browne will indeed be performing on the SPAC stage on August 24th. Browne will release his new album “Downhill From Everywhere” in July. The new album release is almost 50 years from the release of his self-titled debut album.
James Taylor, Jackson Browne on a summer night in Saratoga Springs sounds like the making of a memorable music experience. For tickets to James Taylor and Jackson Browne at SPAC on August 24th click here.
The shows once again are booked, tickets are on sale and the tour buses are gassed up and rolling. We’ll continue to keep you updated on the latest concert info on-air and on our station APP.
