Man Who Drove Over Pittsfield Woman Gets Convicted
Once again, Judge Justice brings down the hammer. A media statement from the Berkshire District Attorney's Office reports that a guilty conviction was secured for the man who drove over a woman back in 2018.
Alfredo Osorio, 27, of Pittsfield, pled guilty to assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injuries and leaving the scene of personal injury.
In an unagreed plea on Monday, Judge John Agostini sentenced Osorio to serve three to five years in state prison on the charges. The Commonwealth requested three and a half to five years while Defense Counsel requested 18 months at the Berkshire County House of Correction.
On September 4, 2018, Osorio got in an argument with the victim while driving her to a Pecks Road home. After exiting the vehicle, Osorio drove over the victim and left the scene. The victim suffered significant injuries that required a life flight to Albany Medical Center where she spent a week in critical care and now continues to suffer from the injuries.
Berkshire District Attorney Andrea Harrington appreciates the hard work of everyone involved. Harrington had this to say:
I thank the Pittsfield Police Department for their great work on these cases. These convictions reflect our focus on holding those who commit violence in our community accountable. I especially would like to thank the victim in the Osorio case for her amazing victim impact statement detailing how much this incident changed her life. Victim witness impact statements are one of the most important rights of a victim or family member of crime and our advocates work diligently to uphold this meaningful right.
