McCandless Leaving Pittsfield for Mt. Greylock

After seven years with the Pittsfield School District, Superintendent Jason McCandless on Friday accepted a new job as Superintendent of the Mt. Greylock Regional School District.

The Berkshire Eagle reports that it’s not clear on when McCandless will be leaving Pittsfield. Under the terms of his existing contract, he could be required to stay in Pittsfield for about three more months, but it’s up to the city’s school committee to decide whether or not to enforce that contract clause.

School committee members are getting ready to turn their attention to planning for a transition in leadership.

McCandless says his team is ready to carry the torch and pointed out how several administrators PPS are already licensed to serve as superintendents in Massachusetts.
