Memorial Day is a day we honor those servicemen and woman that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

In 1971 Congress established Memorial Day as a federal holiday.  Many see the holiday as the unofficial start of summer, but the true meaning of Memorial Day should not be lost.  Many will pay their respects to our fallen solders by visiting grave sites and marking them with American flags.

As we continue to fight the on slot of Covid-19, many veterans have lost the battle to this horrific outbreak.  Our thoughts and prayers should be with those veterans fighting a new and invisible enemy.

On Memorial Day federal, state and local offices will be closed.  Banks will also be close, there will not be any mail delivery by the post office and BRTA buses will not be running.

Some business will reopen on Monday part of phase 1 of Mass Governor Bakers 4-phase plan to reopen the states economy.  The coronavirus pandemic has cancelled most observances and parades scheduled across the Berkshires.
