According to a report published by WWLP Channel 22 in Springfield, Pier 1 announced on Tuesday, May 19, that it has filed a motion to close all of their stores across the country.

Pier 1, after filing for bankruptcy earlier this year, had already closed over 400 of their stores nationwide. Their announcement today will impact all of their remaining stores, including their locations in Pittsfield, Amherst and Enfield, Connecticut.

As early as last year, Pier 1 had around 1,000 stores across the US, but due to the significant impact of COVID-19 on an already challenging economic environment, the company made the ultimate decision to shut down.
