New Study Says Massachusetts #1 Best State For Working Fathers
Perhaps you've heard this one before. "Raising kids is the only job where you work 24 hours a day and it actually costs you money." I know. It's an old chestnut. But here's another one regarding working fathers. A new study conducted by WalletHub found Massachusetts ranks as the best state for working dads!
Great news to hear, and with Father's Day fast approaching, no less! MassLive reports that the personal finance website WalletHub just released the results of a new study. The study compared the 50 states and District of Columbia across 23 key indicators of “friendliness” toward working dads.
The data sets in the study ranged from the average length of the workday for males, child-care costs, and share of men in good or better health. Interestingly, many East Coast states placed within the top 10. But good old Massachusetts took the #1 spot.
Working fathers in Massachusetts topped the list in many of the categories including employment rate of fathers with children under 18, rate of insured fathers, work-life balance, and lowest child-care costs.
Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, and New York all landed in the Top 10 as well. All statistics referred to families with children aged zero to 17 in which the father is present.
Needless to say, over the past year, a large number of fathers had to work virtually from home thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. This gave more dads time to connect with their children and more childcare responsibilities.
Oh, in case you were wondering which state came in dead last at #51? That would be Nevada. You can get all the findings from the study on WalletHub's website.
