Excellent news for pet owners and people like me who badly need a haircut. Starting this coming Monday, May 25, more businesses will be allowed to partially resume operations, provided they follow mandatory sanitary procedures, proper social distancing protocol and industry-specific guidance.

Businesses that will be allowed to reopen include hair salons, retail stores and pet grooming facilities. Also, beginning the 25th, certain parks, beaches, drive-ins and athletic fields will start reopening.

Governor Baker reiterated that if the health of the public starts to show a negative trend, specific businesses, regions or perhaps the entire state will have to go back to an earlier phase.

Also, the "stay at home" advisory has now been changed to a "safer at home" advisory, which in effect, includes the same safety measures but allows for more movement across the state.
