Pittsfield COVID Cases on the Rise with Students and School Staff
The COVID-19 spread continues to effect local students and area school systems. According to an article posted in The Berkshire Eagle, it was announced Wednesday that 11 students in the Pittsfield Public School system have tested positive. In addition to the students eight staff members are have received positive results. The numbers are spread out among four different schools according to the report.
The schools affected include Pittsfield High School, Taconic High School, Reid Middle School and Stearns Elementary School. The total positive tests at Pittsfield High are 5 students…4 students and 1 staff member…1 student and 1 staff member at Reid Middle School and 1 student at Stearns Elementary all have received positive tests according to The Berkshire Eagle.
The Eagle also reports that 2 staff members at Conte Community School…Egregmont Elementary has a staffer test positive and 3 staffers at Capeless Elementary tested positive.
Not all Covid-19 related cases are believed to all be attributed to the school experience. Pittsfield’s all-remote learning will continue through the Thanksgiving holiday at least until December 4th.
In Berkshire County there were 269 reported cases between November 2rd and November 16th. A total of 1,101 cases in the Berkshires with 52 fatalities. Nationally the US has topped 11.5 million cases and the death toll is approaching 250,000. Yesterday and another 1,583 members of someone’s family passed away from the virus.
