Just before Noon Monday firefighters responded to 86 Linden Street , a two story structure where smoke was clearing seen in the rear of the building.

The firefighters knocked down the fire in about 10 minutes, then had to open ceilings and walls to make sure they had it under control.

According to iBerkshires.com eight people lived in the building.  Four people where in the building at the time of the fire, they all got outside safely. The other four occupants were not home, but were accounted for. There were no injuries reported. The Red Cross was called to the scene to assist those that will need help after the fire.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time as investigators were called to the scene to determine what set of the fire.

One Pittsfield truck company and five engines responded, also Dalton brought a ladder truck to the scene. Linden Street was closed between Center and France Avenue.
