Pittsfield Man Identified As Driver In Fatal Hit-And-Run

On Mar. 31, 2019 at approximately 1:30 AM, Pittsfield Police responded to the area of 457 Dalton Ave for a report of a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle.  According to witnesses and roadway evidence, a vehicle traveling eastbound struck the pedestrian, who was sitting down in the eastbound travel lane of Dalton Avenue, just east of Plastics Ave, and continued traveling eastbound after impact. 

The pedestrian, who has been identified as 32 year old Pittsfield resident Christopher Reynolds, sustained fatal injuries. 

The ensuing investigation, conducted by members of the Pittsfield Police Traffic Unit, has resulted in the identification of the involved vehicle operator as Robert Johnson, age 51, of Pittsfield. Criminal charges for Leaving the Scene of a Personal Injury/Death Accident are pending. Mr. Johnson has been fully cooperative with the ongoing investigation.
