Pittsfield Police Announce Academy Grads

The Pittsfield Police Department announced today the graduation of four new Police Officers from the Western Mass Police Academy’s 60^th Recruit Officer’s Course.  Congratulations to Officers Benner, Jones, Jumeau and McDonald.  Welcome to the force and be safe out there!

The Pittsfield Police Department is pleased to announce the graduation of four new Police Officers from the Western Massachusetts Police Academy’s 60th Recruit Officer’s Course (ROC). On July 10, 2020 Officers Colin Benner, Craig Jones, Ansy Jumeau, and Alisa McDonald, successfully completed their basic academy training. The ROC is a 20-week program and consists of approximately 800-hours of required training. This class of recruit officers faced the challenge of the COVID-19 Pandemic and were able to continue their physical and classroom training via online courses. During their remote training time, the Student Officers were assigned to the Central Berkshire Coordinating Center. In addition to their studies, the assisted the Center staff with the procurement and distribution of equipment and supplies. The Academy’s Certificate Ceremony was conducted virtually, via Facebook Live.

On July 12, 2020, the new officers began their Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP). The FTEP is an intense 15-week program designed to help officers transition from the classroom of the police academy to the practical application of skills in actual on-duty situations. Each new officer is assigned a highly skilled and trained Field Training Officer (FTO). The Officers are scheduled to complete the FTEP on October 24, 2020.
