A man and a woman were seriously injured during a weekend incident at Cumberland Farms on First Street in Pittsfield. The Berkshire Eagle reports that according to police, the early-morning incident on Sunday appears to have been an aggravated assault and battery.

 Lt. Gary Traversa says that the injuries were serious, but not life-threatening. He says that there were rumors online that the incident was a stabbing – but that was not the case. The victims were transported to Berkshire Medical for treatment.

The department has not made any arrests in connection with the incident.
