The Pittsfield Police Department is seeking help in locating a suspect in a Tuesday afternoon robbery.

According to PPD officials, an armed robbery took place at the Family Dollar location at 631 North Street. The suspect, according to police, fled on foot following the incident.

Just before 9 p.m. Tuesday night, the scene — which included patrol units, detectives and K-9 — was cleared and a suspect had not been apprehended or, at present time, identified. Police officials describe the suspect as a black male, thin and standing at 5’7”. Witnesses say that the the suspect took off running southbound behind Advanced Auto Parts and then westbound down Madison Avenue toward Seymour Street.
