On Saturday 11/7/2020 13-year-old Roos Bajanth was reported missing from Pittsfield. On Monday 11/9/2020 she was located safe at a residence in Glenville New York where she spoke with authorities.

Roos was found after an investigation by members of the Pittsfield Police Department, Massachusetts State Police, Glenville (NY) Police Department, New York State Police, and Federal Bureau of Investigation. This investigation is ongoing.

Bajanth had left her home on Columbus Avenue in Pittsfield Saturday night and had not been seen since. Police did say she may have been in the company of an adult man that she met online. The man’s identity is not known to police.

According to David Procopio, director of communications for the Massachusetts State Police. Police had not issued an Amber Alert for the missing girl because it falls short on one of the three required criteria needed to trigger an alert, according to David Procopio, director of communications for the Massachusetts State Police.

The three criteria are that a child 17 years or younger has been abducted, that the child is in danger of harm or death, and that there is enough descriptive information available about the suspect or vehicle involved that an alert would be effective in the search.

“Even without meeting the criteria, we still aim to publicize the missing child as much as possible to engage the public’s assistance,”
